This playful Japanese art tee combines classic Japanese art with modern coffee culture. The iconic “grumpy frog” sits in front of a takeaway coffee cup – with decaf. The design

This design reimagines the well-known “grumpy frog” motif by Japanese artist Matsumoto Hōji and places it in a contemporary setting.

The frog’s slightly annoyed expression is paired with a paper coffee cup and the caption “what, decaf?!”, giving the classic character a new meaning. We have added a subtle grunge effect for a vintage and worn-in look from day one.

The artist

Matsumoto Hōji was an Edo-period Japanese artist known for light-hearted, often humorous ink paintings – especially his expressive frogs. His work fits into the playful kyōga (comic painting) tradition.
